Growing up in politics as I did, I often heard the phrase "Potomac Fever" in reference to those who had become obsessed with their ambition to obtain elected office. McCain's got it. He now defines "PotoMAC Fever".
In is his despicable behavior in Florida, McCain was a textbook case of symptoms- ruthless expediency and the willingness to do anything- to step on anyone. Even when repeatedly made aware that the lies he was telling about Romney were lies, he only said more of them- faster and faster- eyes glazed. That's the fever.
And while all the talk-gurus, pundits and journalists banter about conservatism vs. moderate, etc. etc., I'm not thinking about that. I've had to vote for Republicans that were far from conservative enough for me against the Dems. I could have again, I suppose. My decision to join the battle cry "I'll NEVER vote for McCain" is not based in ideology. Rather it is about honor and integrity, as now I see that McCain sadly has sacrificed both for his Florida victory.
And, please, dear reader, don't interject the much storied McCain military history. My father served heroically in the US military and I know many others who have, as well. Not one of them would, themselves, or allow others on their behalf to use their service and sacrifice as a license or justification for behavior such as lying or using deliberately sleazy ads to get votes.
Talk about ideology 'til the cows come home. I wouldn't vote for that liar if he were MORE conservative than Reagan!
